Agra Fort Visit the magnificent Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone fortress that dominates a bend of the Yamuna River, located about 2 km northwest of the Taj Mahal in Agra. Built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar between 1565 and 1571, this grand fort served as the main residence of the Mughal rulers for several generations and stands as a powerful symbol of their architectural brilliance and imperial strength.

The fort houses an impressive collection of palaces, audience halls, and beautiful mosques constructed in red sandstone and later enhanced with white marble by successive emperors, including Akbar, Jahangir, and Shah Jahan. Notable structures such as the Diwan-i-Khas and Musamman Burj reflect the artistic excellence and refined taste of Mughal architecture, making Agra Fort an essential stop for visitors exploring the rich history of the Mughal era.
